Tenugui was used as not only daily use but also advertising media. In Edo period, a Tenugui that designed a coat of arms and a trademark was very popular. Tenugui is dyed by the technique of Sosogizome. The process of Sosogizome is masking the part of cloth that you don't want to dye by glue first, then dye the cloth by pouring paint. Sosogizome needs a professional technique. The characteristic of it is the cloth is dyed the same on both side.
